STD-Testing

Sexual Health Screening Malaysia

If the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that we are all responsible for our health and by extension, the health of others. This includes our sexual health. If you are sexually active, it is your responsibility to yourself and others to get tested for any sexually transmitted disease (STD).

What Are STDs?

STDs are diseases that are spread usually via sexual contact, which can be oral, vaginal, or anal. There are several types of STDs. At Speedoc, we test for the 6 most common ones which are chlamydia, herpes (type 1 and 2), hepatitis (B and C), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), syphilis and gonorrhoea.

What Are The Symptoms Of STDs?

The general symptoms of STDs include:

  • Pain during sex and when you urinate
  • Fever
  • Unusual discharge from the penis or vagina
  • Discomfort or pain in the groin or anal region
  • Muscle aches
  • Fatigue
  • Swollen lymph nodes
  • Dark urine

Depending on the type of STD, if left untreated, it can progress and cause more serious complications like infertility, seizures, brain damage, liver cancer, and kidney failure. Furthermore, some STDs can occur without showing any initial symptoms.

Types Of STD Tests In Malaysia

Different tests are used to detect different STDs; there is no single test that can be used on all infections. They include:

  • Urine test
  • Genital swab
  • Blood test
  • Swab test on affected area

Different tests require different samples; so you may be required to do multiple tests.

At Speedoc, our STD screening package tests for:

  • Chlamydia
  • Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)
  • Herpes Type 1 and 2
  • STI (Syphilis)
  • Hepatitis A, B, and C
