Early immunisation gives your child the best protection against infections and diseases such as Hepatitis B, Polio and Tetanus.
This also prevents the spread of diseases from child to child, keeping other children safe.
Keep your precious little ones in the best of health and enjoy a peace of mind as they grow!
Speedoc’s baby vaccination programme follows the Malaysian National Immunisation Programme (NIP), where children are protected from 13 major childhood diseases.
Following your child’s vaccination, we will update his health booklet with the vaccine type, batch number, and date of vaccination.
Vaccines are made from the same viruses that cause disease, but altered in a way that they will not be able to cause illness. When we receive the vaccines, usually via injection, our immune system responds by creating antibodies that provide us with immunity to those diseases.
Some vaccines are valid for life, while others may require regular repeat shots to maintain immunity.
Based on Malaysia’s National Immunisation Programme, the following vaccinations are recommended:
Your baby is not suitable for a vaccination when he/she is running a high fever or having any other symptoms of being unwell such as coughing, vomiting, etc.
You must consult a doctor especially if your baby has had an adverse reaction to certain vaccines before, or has a weak immune system. Our Speedoc doctors will be able to advise if your child is suitable for certain vaccines.
It is normal for your baby to cry a little after the vaccine, but this should last no more than a few seconds and the baby should be consolable. It is also not unusual for your baby to feel a little sore or develop a fever, but these should subside in a day or two.
You might observe a slight redness or a small bump over the injection site, which should subside over a few days.
Infants and young children have the highest risk of developing a serious case of disease. In the more severe cases, it may result in hospitalisation or even death.
Delaying mandatory vaccines leaves your child unprotected during the time he may need protection most. For example, diseases such as meningitis or pneumonia frequently occur before a child turns 2. Other diseases, such as hepatitis B and whooping cough (pertussis), affect babies more.
